I asked my old direct manager for a professional refer for a job I'm applying for and they told me the company policy is no job references because the company does not want to be held liable. Is this legal?? I'm so angry about this, how can you not give a reference, what liability and how am I meant to progress in my career without adequate references? Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and if I can do anything about it. Thank you!
