Should I tell my manager that I have an interview for a new job?

I'm currently working retail and a friend of mine informed me about a receptionist position that opened up where he is currently employed. He thought I'd be good for it and told me to send him my resume if I was interested and he'd give it to his boss, so I did. His boss called me this morning and we set up an interview for tomorrow.

My first instinct was to keep this from my current job until I have to put in my 2 weeks notice. However, this manager became somewhat of a mentor to me and I'd like to use her as a reference. I don't think she would mind but I'm reluctant to ask in case I don't get the job. Any advice?
