I applied for a Amazon warehouse worker job (fulltime 4 days), but it is 1hr away (50 mins-ish) from where I currently live.
I am a 19 year old and I've talked with my family about it and I've only gotten negative/neutral responses back.
- Oh! Christopher it's too far and you don't drive.
- Maybe you can apply for a different warehouse job closer to your dad's house?
- Dude be serious it's too far and you are a college student first you will have to go back next semester in the spring.
Honestly I could look for other warehouse jobs closer to where I live but I feel like if I let this chance go I'll regret it. Since most of my family hasn't had much experience either working far from home I want to try it but with these worries crawling on my back it's scary.
I understand the drive is way too long but I could just take bus fares.
I haven't been considering going back to college this year due to some family problems with my mother and two younger siblings eventually have to move out of their stepdads home since he wants to be with another woman and raise her children. I really want to support my mother and my siblings so they don't have to struggle. Also with my mother working but only a few days of a week she barely makes enough money.
I've been looking for jobs for a few months now and have not had hope in responses. Most jobs either took too long to respond, has too many specific qualifications, and/or seemed overwhelming to take.
What i mean by the last part "overwhelming" is working at - Chik Fil A with business being non stop from morning to night 6 days a week including caterings.
- Looking for Waiter/Restaurant Busser jobs and the pay being too little from what I've experienced.
I really wanted a sort of Desk Job to build up Customer Resource experience/getting familiar with computer register applications so i could add to my resume but nothing ever arose from it.
