I’m 31 years old with 6 years or more working in sales in multinationals. For many years I’ve wanted to pursue an ambition of becoming an accountant! I’ve completed a few of my professional exams.
Experience is so important as the qualification can’t be issued without 3 years experience in a relevant role and various objectives signed off on.
And unbelievably I was offered 2 jobs:
Job 1: very low salary, trainee accountant, permanent contract, exam support, dedicated training programme, potentially ruthless environment. After 3 years however you leave as a qualified chartered accountant with all exams done. Could be a difficult environment to work in, relatively small company .
Job 2: great salary, non-accounting role but a general finance role, 15 month contract with potential for permanency. After 3 years, I’m nothing more than I was when I came in but the job can partially count towards the experience and objectives requirement of my qualification. Very comfortable and familiar environment, big multinational.
I strongly lean towards option 1 but my heart is afraid of the risk and lack of familiarity. These are Covid times after all. :/
