I'm awaiting contact from HR to get started on salary negotiation for a new job. I've been told that they offer relocation (lump sum) and received a tip that it would be smart to use some of the on-site benefits that they offer as a reason for why relocating is valuable to me (I can't get specific, but they have a very large and robust campus with an outstanding variety of facilities that could easily save me thousands a year).
I'm a single parent of 3 children, and one of the facilities specifically would be an absolute godsend. Should I mention that during negotiation? Or should I withhold personal information like that as much as possible? I'm going to already be asking for the upper end of what I know to be the salary band for the position, but I have lots of data points to support that. It's relocation that's harder.
I've never really even interviewed before, much less negotiated relocation, so I have no idea what best practices are. Thank you!
Edit to add: the job can easily be done remotely, so there's no strong reason for relocation.
