Hi all!
I've been having trouble with my current job and I have been looking for advice.
I have been at my current job since January of 2019. It was right out of college, had good pay, and it was in my field. The job has become pretty toxic.
- I've been passed over for promotions three times. There is virtually no movement (lateral or otherwise).
- An entire department was disintegrated and we inherited the work with no extra pay.
- Morale across the entire department is at an all time low. We get no credit for anything, and we are not valued in general.
- My work is mundane and has no real impact. I am basically a glorified intern, doing the same things day in and day out. No learning, just putting out everyone else's fires.
- There is a VP that makes our lives miserable in another department. She is unprofessional, steps on our toes, undermines our department, insults us, and advises the people under her to do the same. Yes, she is a VP of another department. It is well documented that turnover has been a direct result of her. Nothing has changed.
- Myself and the department have documented how toxic this work enviornment has become. The manager refuses to make any time to address these things. We are told we need to "take emotion out of it and do our job" or "we need to be adaptable". We've all given up.
Here is my thing: is it too early to leave this job? It's only been 1.9 years, and not sure if that is too early. Also, how do I continue to do a good job? I don't want to lose my job, but it's hard to stay focused and want to do good and stay motivated with everything going on and our concerns being dismisses. Any advice here?
