I’m in the process of being hired by a multinational corporation and I’ve been instructed by HR to provide personal information to a company I had never heard about before called HireRight.
Is this a common practice in the European Union or is it a US thing? The company I’m applying to is American. Be it as it may I find this practice very intrusive, having a third-party company looking up my life.
Another thing that I hope you can help me about, I got HireRight’s e-mail asking for my information today (which I’ve already submitted) and I’m scheduled to sign my contract next week. Does this make any sense? Based on what I’ve read this HireRight company usually takes a lot of time reporting back to the employers, what if I’m not able to provide them whatever document they might ask for? Does that mean I am going to sign a contract to get fired soon afterwards? I’m a bit confused to be honest.
I live in a relatively small European Union country and never before did anyone ask me at any company to go through this background verification process. I actually didn’t even know this sort of thing existed. Good Lord, it kind of feels like 1984.
