What Gives?

I had an interview today with a recruiter for an outside sales position (entry-level). I was told that my application and Resume would be forwarded to the hiring manager and that I'll hear back next week if I made it to the second round of interviews or wasn't selected the position. She was talking about how some of the most successful people she's recruited/hired were teachers or people that didn't have any sales experience.

I decided to check my application status and saw that I hadn't been selected for the position. Here I am with 9 years of experience in retail sales (and Bachelor's degree in Business Admin-Marketing) with a proven track record and references to back it up while people without any sales experience are getting hired for these types of positions. What gives? I just had to vent because I feel really pissed off, frustrated, disappointed, depressed, etc. I've been trying to find a new job since March but without any luck so far.
