Hello,
I found a small startup near me and it may be a dream company. Last week I had a kick off meeting with a C-Level person at the company in response to me reaching out about a Senior/Lead Software Engineering position.
The position had been filled, but they are growing quickly and were impressed with resume so agreed to chat. During the talk I made an error that I always tell people to avoid: a desired compensation came up and I gave a number close to my current salary at 130k. I was told this number is in their range.
As I've done more research and and the stars and butterflies left, I'm finding the I should probably be shooting more for the 145k-155k range. Ugh, I'm usually so well prepared for this situation!
With that in mind, I've talked with more team members and a virtual "in-person" is likely going to be scheduled with the C-Level person and the rest of the team. Is there a tactful way for me to address this? I'm hoping the discussion may come up again prior to an offer being made (if I am so fortunate).
Please help! Thanks
