Is it unprofessional to call and ask what hours/shift an employer is hiring for?

Hi,

Im college student, currently working in the hospitality industry as a desk agent. I enjoy working in this industry, but I am attempting to look for a new place of hire, but during the weekends as it works better with my classes. The only issue I have as that most places don't specify the shift, hours or days they are looking for.

Would it be rude or unprofessional if I called and asked what days and shift they are looking to hire, before I apply? I just don't want to apply and waste their time in an interview if they're looking for hours I'm not available for.
