Looking for some feedback here. I started my job about 3 months ago at $15/hr. The company is brand new and I am one of the first 5 that we’re hired. Every technician starts at $15/hr.
Since starting the job, they have trained me to be a supervisor. I handle inventory for the jobs, do paperwork and get signatures from the customers, drive company vehicles. I’ve made the company a lot of extra money by going to jobs that couldn’t have been done without the training they gave me. I worked 28 days straight from taking on call shifts that weren’t assigned to me, trying to make a good impression.
I was under the impression that after 90 days, I would sit down with my manager and renegotiate my pay. It turned into my manager showing up to a job I was at, pulling me aside for about 60 seconds to tell me he was giving me a $1/hr raise and to not tell anybody, then he said he had to go and left. There was no chance to negotiate.
I was disappointed because I felt I had busted my butt to make a case for $18-20/hr and never got the chance to explain why I felt I deserved that. I almost feel like all the extra responsibilities and liabilities aren’t worth the $1/hr raise.
Am I justified in thinking I deserve more? Am I being naive/entitled? Should I just be patient and see what happens over the next few months? As I’m sure you all know, jobs aren’t super easy to come by right now so I don’t want to ruin a good thing by asking for too much, but I also don’t want to be taken advantage of. Any advice is appreciated, and if you‘ve made it to here, thanks for reading.
