Relocated prior to COVID, now driving 1.5 hours to job . How can I ask my boss if I can work from home?

I have a current position as an Office Manager in an area that is now 1.5 hours away from where I currently live. To give back story - prior to COVID I had another job lined up in the city where my boyfriend lives, but it would not start until my current Office Manager contract ends.Then COVID happened and that job position (that I had accepted the offer on) became obsolete.

I’ve been driving to work everyday since our state opened back up, Monday-Friday (which some are 10 hour days) and I am just EXHAUSTED! I find myself tired at work, and zero energy once I get home. HR sent an email to employees two/three weeks ago saying we can request to work from home but it’s up to our supervisor and no guarantees. I would like to work from home 2-3 days a week, but I don’t know how to word it and am unsure if it’s even appropriate to bring up me commuting from home.

And if you’re wondering- yes, I am trying to find another job in the area where I live.
