Need opinion: got laid off, offered a job at great company, but months away due to security clearance process

Hi everyone,

I just want your opinion, really appreciate it. I'm a mechanical engineer (4 years experience, still fresh out of college), got laid off in April. I got a job offer early this month for a company that I've always wanted to work with, with a really generous pay, but it won't start until November since it requires them to get me a security clearance. I've already accepted the offer because I don't have a job, and I'm single, have been saving the unemployment and stimulus check, and it's nice to have an extended vacation ; ) Financially I'm okay until then. Now, I think it's unethical to still try to get another engineering job because it's expensive for a company to hire and train me, just for me to jump ship in 4 months. I'm still applying to another company since it's good for practice interview, but I doubt I'll get something with a better offer (or any offer for that matter), and you all know how exhausting it is to find a job. I've been taking classes to beef up my resume, and I'm thinking to get a retail job until then so I don't keep taking unemployment. Do you think this is a good decision? What do you think is a better alternative and what's you reasoning? I'm posting this question because other people (you guys) have other perspectives and things I might not know about, so I truly appreciate your inputs :) Thanks three thousands!
