Is denying an internships full time offer in this economy a bad idea?

Hey there,

I'm in my last year of school and i'm currently interning right now. I really like the company I'm interning for, however the work is absolutely brutal. Not hard- just tedious crap that I feel is just so mind numbing. Also, the department who hired me is LIFELESS. Every meeting I have with them I feel like a piece of me DIES. My manager has already discussed the potential of hiring me and asked if I'd be interested, I just responded with "I enjoy the experience I've gained" (lol). So I graduate in spring. Problem is I really don't want to work for this guy. I've been doing work with another person in the company and I like working with her department much more, problem is she's not the one who hired me and kinda already said "I wanna have you on board here but (insert managers name) will probably want to hire you"

My question is, I'll be graduating into the worst recession. I'm majoring in something that is very flexible and has a decent pay outlook (industrial engineering). Im so scared of denying this job and not being able to find another one when graduation comes. My internship isn't even ISE, it's finance-based but it's what I could find (my GPA is pretty meh so it was kinda hard to find something in my field). Do I do what would make me happy and deny the job offer that is to come and take the chance and find something more up my alley of what I like, or do I accept it to have less risk?
