I just recently took on a new job & it just so happened to be right before I go on vaccation. I gave my employer about a 1.5 week notice because if I gave them anymore that would mean Id have to giveup my vaccation (which ive had planned for like a year by the way.)
Well, when I informed them that I took a new job they werent too happy about the 1.5 week notice... I have been with them quite a while & Ive earned more than enough PTO to cover this upcoming vaccation. So there response was, "well thats not how it works. Normally you give 2 weeks notice. So I hope youre not expecting your vaccation to be covered because it wont."
I told them that the 1.5 week notice was the best I could do because of the dates of my vaccation. I also told them I didnt expect them to still allow me to use the PTO.
Ive been a good employee. I feel like theyve taken advantage of me. I was given a great review but no raise... Had my job duties change a million times. Trained a new employee & still no raise. They decided to reduce the office hours because of covid & ive recieved no unemployment so I got screwed pretty hard there. They loveee one of my co workers so they made it right with her & let her continue to work full-time. But not me.
I was planning on finishing off the rest of this week but everyones telling me I dont owe them anything. And that I shouldnt come in Friday & should use that day to begin my vaccation since my husbands off.
I hardly ever take a day off. Ive always given 2 week notice up until now. I gave notice in hopes to get sone referances out of this but I dont know if ill even get them.
What should I do? Finish my 1.5 week notice or say screw it & enjoy an extra day of vaccation?
My new employer is cool with my planned vaccation by the way. I work in a medical office so not giving notice is usually frown upon.
