I want to ask for my old job back, but I am worried that our relationship is broken?

I was with this small company on their finance team and we got along super well. I did my work well and they were super happy with me, but I had to quit the job for my internship thesis. I told them I might come back in February, but I havent talked with them since november. Before i left they had a pretty big problem in their accounting so I recommended my cousins firm. They spent some time with my cousin and his partners. From what I understood is that my cousin told them he won’t be working on the job anymore, because it was too much work. I am worried this burned a bridge. Should I try to approach them again?
