So, I scheduled to speak with our company director regarding my career as I saw a position opening within our company that can be done remotely. I told her I needed her advice and words of wisdom plus I took some notes on what the company needs, but I didn't tell her that I want this certain position yet. I'm planning to move quickly, probably a better position in the company around January 2021 or earlier. How should I talk and what do I talk about?
A few things of note:
-
I've only been in the company for a year, and I was given additional duties and a better commission structure as of early June.
-
The only thing I refuse to do for that opening was to travel 20% of the time due to the pandemic. I meet most of the criteria as it parallels the requirements and my job duties, and perhaps I'll need to review the company products in more detail.
-
The less I have to use my speaking voice in my next role, the better. I've been doing my current role for around 5 years at different companies and I'm sick of signing up people for our services and I wanna go up the next step.
-
In the future that I do get a better role within the company, how do I negotiate my salary? I've got my Bachelor's in Psychology and MBA but that didn't quite sell to be given a higher salary than they offered.
