I have been searching for a job that is generally expected to be a stepping stone leading to getting into a master's program. In fact, most of these positions understand that employees might only stick around for a year, and are typically understanding of this. So, I found a position, and it's remote due to Covid-19. I applied almost a week ago, and today I got an email back requesting a statement of interest. I was told that I was expected to commit to two years and that I then could not apply to my program until 2021. It concluded stating to consider this when moving forward. Does this seem reasonable? I just feel like it would be unacceptable to most to put off their education because their employer wants them to. I really want to explain my disappointment to them, but that is probably bad to do too.
