So, I currently work at a pretty busy gas station, and am sick of it. I fell in love with the job because the position I was hired for included a lot of physical work with hours of stocking, cleaning, and just enough customer service where I didn't lose my mind. But, the job has deteriorated to only register, with management, the corporate office, and my coworkers performing poorly, complaining about small things when I am the one spending hours fixing what they didn't do or completely messed up, now a massive lack of communication unless someone is complaining and very poor handling of the tension and chaos currently happening. Everyone will say they are doing their best, but I am frankly disappointed that the team and job I have come to care about has turned into what it has. I wanted to stick it out to see if it got better, but if this is how they handle a bad time, I don't want to be around for when the next situation arises. And with how I am being treated, I don't want to wait for the disappointment of getting my position back when our hours come back, only to have them mess with my schedule and my job when it is convenient for them (which they have done before). After this and my last couple jobs, I am pretty much done with customer service. But I am a young adult, only have a high school diploma, and have been told my only options are fast food or sticking with retail until I load enough money into a college to get a degree. I know that isn't entirely true. I have no problem with physical work, I am committed, and can learn quickly. I just don't want to have to serve hundreds of customers that are too dumb to even know where they are half the time or how a basic transaction works. I sound aggressive in this post, but I can be and usually am pretty nice. Does anyone have any job suggestions that I can apply for? Something common enough that I may find it within an hour drive of me (or slightly more if necessary) and pays $10/hour or more. Preferably with either a set schedule or at least one where I am not closing one day then starting in the morning or early afternoon the next. I need a sleep schedule too like anyone else to keep doing my best. I don't want to have to rely on customer service to pay my bills anymore. The stress of my job is now making me physically nauseous at the thought of going back in, but I will not quit until I am offered something else.
