Had some recent short-term jobs and want a career change- how do I spin this?

Hello!

Last summer I left Ohio for NYC. My bf and I were living there because he had returned to school to get his bachelor's. We both wanted to move to a bigger city once he was done, he got a good job offer in NYC, so here we are.

I didn't have a solid plan of exactly what I wanted to do once I got here. I have a BA in English/ TESOL, so I looked for jobs related to that. I found some jobs, but the ones that actually appealed to me typically required a master's and/or teaching license, which I don't have. I also considered switching gears at that time, but without a clear idea of what I wanted, I continued searching for things related to my current field.

I found the NYC Teaching Collaborative (you may have heard it called the Teaching Fellows program, they're essentially the same.) It's a program where you get field experience, your masters/teaching license, and you can get a public school position before finishing your master's. I thought this sounded like a great fit, so I applied and eventually got accepted. That was back around August/September 2019, but the program didn't start until January 2020. The program doesn't pay much before you get the public school job, so I needed something temporary to save some money up until January.

I ended up working for a charter school. They actually contacted me before I left Ohio and suggested that I apply. I had never heard of them at the time, so I did a little research, and let's just say I wasn't crazy about what I'd read about them. I applied and interviewed with other places, but that charter school was the only place that gave me an offer, so I ended up taking it. I really didn't like the job, and really don't agree with the way they do things.

Well, I don't have to worry about that anymore since I've started the Teaching Collaborative ...but now I'm dealing with the fact that I don't really want to teach anymore. :/

I've been doing some research to try and figure out exactly what I might want to do instead (that probably requires a whole 'nother post itself,) but right now I am stuck on what to include in my LinkedIn and/or CV for my time since arriving in NYC, and how to frame it in an interview.

Listing the charter school may already turn people off if they are politically opposed. If that doesn't do it, than the fact I was there for such a short time would. I could explain these issues by saying I needed to save money before starting the Teaching Collaborative, but now I don't really want to continue with that either.

(I can't really explain why I've lost interest in completing the program. It's especially frustrating because I have taught before, and I thought I enjoyed it...but now I just really don't feel like I can see myself in this career. Everyone I work with in the program, students included, are pretty great...and yet, I dread doing it. I think I just need a change.)

Anyway, my biggest questions moving forward are:

Do I list either/both on my resume?

If I list either, how do I explain it in an interview/cover letter?

If I honestly answer that I thought I wanted what the NYCTC program offered, but changed my mind once I started, am I going to have any chance of a job offer? I feel like I am just going to come off as flaky and unreliable. But is it better to have a 9-10 month "gap?"

I have had immense frustration and anxiety about if I'm making the right choice, but I truly feel that my heart is not in teaching any longer, so any advice you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Edit: fixed for clarity
