What's it like working in phone-based customer service?

To those of you who have or have had such a job, what is a customer service job like? I guess I'm mainly curious about healthcare or banking customer service since those are the two industries with heavy phone-based customer service.

What is your job like? What do you like/dislike? How about schedule - flexible and including weekends?
