Question to all of you who majored in business

I don't quite understand it how a college dictates what your starting salary is... Can a person from university A get a higher starting salary for the same job (1) as a person from university B for the same job (1), with the same degrees, just different college names? How does that work, etc...

I was wondering b/c I am in the process of choosing between UGA/GT Business and its so aggravating to know that the salary difference between finance for example is $10,000 (UGA: 45K- GT: 55k)... Both are great univiersities (technically UGA would be cheaper since I live in Athens, but you know)
