In the past 2.5 years, I have applied to over 300 jobs in my degree field (international affairs/relations). In 2018, I finally got an offer and took a really low paying job that is heavily administrative. I figured I would take it, try to build my resume some more and keep applying. Now it's been another 1.5 years and I'm still in this shitty job with no jobs offers, and I'm wondering if it's time to call it quits and go back to school for something else. I'm 25 and barely making enough to cover my basic expenses, and next year I'll need my own healthcare so taking time off to "find myself" isn't an option. How do you know when it's time to give up on "the dream"? How do you decide what to do next when it's all you've planned for?
