Story:
I put in for my vacation in January after looking over the work schedule for the year and trying not to plan it during any rough patches or visits and then personally made sure my boss was okay with it. 6 months later we have a high profile customer push back a scheduled visit to our factory on the date of my Vacation, normally I would be accommodating and try to move it to a different time, but I wasn't even given a weeks notice of the change and had already paid for everything so I was in a tight spot. My boss asked me to cancel the vacation or send my 3 kids (all under 5) and my wife by herself, and take about a 2000 dollar loss on my deposit. I ended up going anyway because I just can't leave my wife or flush 2000 down the drain, but ever since I left my boss treats me differently and has told people behind my back that I laid the company out to dry that week. Flash forward to today and they are bringing in people that usually fire the managers and I fear I'm up next. Did I do the right thing? Im so stressed at losing this job, I've been with this company for 10 years since I was in college and I fear I'm going to be damaged goods now.
