If someone were to start over today, what would be the best field of study or career path based on future growth potential? Suggestions for rural or remote work especially as there isn't a lot to choose from in my area.
I started working young and worked my way up through a family owned company making pretty decent money for my area and level of education. I recently left the job on good terms, but to save my sanity. I had no plan, just severely depressed and stressed, and needed to get out. I was on call in the medical field every day, night and weekend for over 3 years. I would work several weeks at a time without a day off, and easily 80+ hours some weeks. I do not want to go back into the medical field. Since I've been browsing job postings for a month or so, I've noticed how little there really is that I'm "qualified" for. Although I have a lot of skills and experience in one area, my resume is very unimpressive. I will turn 30 next year and feel like I should have been settled into a career by now, but instead, I'm planning to go back to school. The problem is, I have no idea what interests me or what I should study that will still be in demand 20 years from now. I'm stuck. Any suggestions at all will be very appreciated and researched, but I REALLY don't want to go back into the medical field.
