I recently had a phone interview with a company located in Baltimore and they asked me today if I would be willing to travel there next week to meet the team to see how I would like the office environment. I live about 8 hours away but my friend works at this company and they know that (he was the one who got me the interview) and probably assume that I would be staying with him while visiting and the email made it seem like I would probably spend the weekend in the city visiting with said friend (they said we could arrange the meeting on a Monday or Friday which would allow me to spend the weekend in the city). Most likely il end up staying with my friend and enjoying the city for the weekend but would it still be possible for me to ask for travel reimbursement of some sort? Like gas compensation or something? This is my first post-graduation job interview in another city and I don’t know if this is normally okay. Any advice would be appreciated.
