I have been offered an internal promotion within my company that will not only increase the number of direct and indirect reports, but I will have folks overseas reporting to me as well.
Given the reporting structure it will require me to travel overseas several times per year. I am in a supervisory role right now that requires occasional travel but it has traditionally only been domestic. Current salary is in the upper 80s. Central US if that matters.
I’m flattered that my name came up when this position opened and they obviously thought highly enough of me to offer it. I have 15 years of experience in this field including my previous job at another company and my current position which I’ve been in for over 8 years.
I have a number in mind that I would consider acceptable and I am waiting on management to come back with their offer. In the meantime I am going to draft a letter outlining my justifications for my salary figure. How do I come off confident, but not a jerk and risk losing the opportunity?
