Hi there. I'd love some advice for an odd situation I have found myself in. For starters I am a financially independent 23 year old. My goal for the next 5 years is just to have a job that I like that will pay for a room to rent and live in, and approach life frugally while saving up for the next phase, whatever that'll be. After months of job searching, I secured a part-time seasonal job which I am stoked about but it won't pay all the bills for any longer than mid-January, which is when the contract ends. In the meantime, I've been going through an extensive time-consuming recruiting process for a job caring for animals at an animal hospital/boarding place. I did THREE interviews INCLUDING a half-day training for this place. It's 42 hours per week total, but only 4 days per week, and pays $14 an hour. I originally thought I'd use the other three days of the week to work the part-time seasonal job which pays amazingly, and therefore really boost my savings at least short-term, then once the seasonal job ends I'll be doing the animal job only. However, I've just been informed my potential boss and the one who interviewed and trained me for the animal job just QUIT out of nowehere, due to being overwhelmed with too many duties and too little pay. To be honest, although the job title seems to just be about the animals, like feeding/walks/play time/ cleaning, the other part of the job is cleaning the whole entire BIG building. I'm talking spiderwebs, vacuuming, mopping, restocking toilet paper and soap, everything. So it's basically a janitor job AND animal caretaking, all for only $14/hour. At first I was extremely excited because I love animals, but after putting it all together I realized I should probably turn it down. I have until tomorrow morning to decide. Any advice, considering I need to be renting a room ASAP because I have to move out of my current place in November, and I'll need the financial ability to do so. For now, back to the job boards I go.
