**I posted this on another reddit but I want as much feedback as possible
I'm an EMT-b and I'm applying to EMS jobs but there's one question that haunts me and it's "have you ever been fired or terminated from a job? If so, why?"
I used to work at an at-will employment scribe company and they fired me because of a few reasons that took place during my on-boarding/probationary period. The main reason was cause my last two shifts (and my FIRST shift) I was not "on track" to be a solo scribe since I was a slow scribe. I was also late for 3 shifts. They also cited the fact I had my feet up on a stool and I used my phone during shift. The termination letter I received stated I was terminated because I did not fulfill the requirements for the scribe job description.
I realize I'm not perfect but I really think the company's management was finding reasons to fire me. I struggled towards the end of my training and they were not willing to give me extra shifts even though from the beginning they said if a scribe struggled they would allow more training shifts. There were issues with me getting into the ED because I did not have a badge and would have to wait to get in, sometimes making me late for my shift. And my first shift, I had my feet up on a stool to tie my shoes and I got verbally warned for it (fine, whatever) but when I was done with my charts, I would use my phone or use it to look up medical terminology. All these reasons they cited me for alone are making me seem like a terrible, unmotivated employee and tbh I own it. I'm not perfect. I'm just scared how to word this or to even mention it now I'm an EMT-B trying to apply for jobs and they ask about previous terminations. I feel like this would be such a deal breaker (hiring someone who's been fired before??). Has anyone experienced this? How bad would it be to omit this information?
