Interviewed today and yesterday. Latest interview may have resulted in getting hired almost on the spot, but I like the job I interviewed for yesterday. How should I juggle things?
Todays' interview was for a minimum wage casual restaurant, one of those "OMG, I need grocery money now!" types of jobs. Yesterday's interview was for a higher pay grade, with great benefits, in a warehouse. I could afford to not have a roommate on the pay from the job I interviewed for yesterday, but they won't call back for another 3-5 days after the interview.
At the conclusion of todays' restaurant interview, the interviewer went to check the schedule, and asked me back tomorrow for "a second interview/orientation." I agreed enthusiastically. I guess this means I got hired on the spot.
Now, what if I get called back 3-5 days after yesterdays' warehouse interview, and the warehouse offers me a job? I would love to break things off with the restaurant and go for a higher pay and great benefits, but I'm not sure what the proper etiquette here is. If the warehouse sees that I jump at better pay, are they going to think I'll abandon them in a month for even better pay, and will they be disinclined to continue with the hiring process? And how would I go about telling the restaurant "Thanks, but no thanks.", after I have essentially already accepted the job offer? Like, what kind of word will they put in for me with future prospective employers?
Thoughts?
EDIT: I'm not sure why or how that particular post flair got selected, and I apologize if it's inappropriate for this type of a post. I'm not sure how to edit the flair.
