Was hoping that someone might have some advice on how one could go about looking to transfer into a career in HR after working in social services.
I have my BS in applied social sciences and for the past 3 years have worked in social services for non profits serving homeless young adults and now in foster care.
As much as I love the work, burnout is real and living in the Northwest the salaries are hard to live on. I feel like a lot of my previous work has focused on conflict management/problem solving and communication skills. Also a ton of organization and communication between different parties and my clients.
Before accepting my current position I was looking for entry level HR/recruiting positions and got some call backs and an interview but nothing came through.
Would anyone have suggestions on how I can help to shift my career? Would certifications be useful, something like an aPHR?
Thanks!
