I have an interview tomorrow for an FP&A analyst for a large mortgage firm. I am 2 years out of college and been working in corporate finance as an Financial analyst for almost two years now.
Little backstory:
One of the reasons i have started looking elsewhere is because my current situation has started to become unhealthy for me. Due to an acquisition of my company, we have received a lot of work and my boss has been pushing a lot on me that I don’t really understand sometimes, so I go into work almost every day scared i will mess something up. Before the sale, i was happy there and was given opportunities to learn and grow, but now its like this anxiety that fills me that i will get “caught” and fired. I also use to get a long with my boss pretty well, but after a few harassment claims (that we swept under the rug) and him constantly telling the team “you guys are salaried, i expect you to not leave until everything i ask for is done”. I understand this, but it doesn’t help that he will leave the office for 3 hours in the middle of the day and then come back at 4 pm, gives you an assignment and expects it that night. I don’t mind staying late from time to time (monthly close and such, i expect), but when its because he has held an email for most of the day then says how much he needs it, that’s when it bothers me.
This job has been severely impacted my health, both mentally and physically. I struggle to do anything after work because i just want to go home and try to have time go by as long as possible so i wont have to go into the office, especially the weekends.
So back to the question at hand, how do i ask in an interview about the work life balance?
