Hi,
Kind of a complicated story. On my resume it states that I worked for care.com as a babysitter. A few years ago (at the time I was a minor), i did use care.com to find jobs as a babysitter. Since I was under 18, my parent had to create the account since the rules are if I’m a minor there has to be a parent account. So I met a family through there and worked as their babysitter over the summer. Fast forward to this past summer, I contacted the family again to see if they’d still like to use my services, and they said yes.
On my resume I listed care.com as the company who employs me. But I don’t have a registered account so there’s no proof I worked there. I’m interviewing at a company and if they run an employment verification check I’m afraid they’ll think I was lying about the job. For reference I’m applying for an internship position at a finance company.
I have a second in person interview in 2 weeks. Should I update my resume to state “self-employed babysitter?” And then give them a copy of my resume to clarify? Or should I leave as is. I’m not sure if it’s “lying” since I did find the family through care.com, I’m just not a registered member and there’s no proof I was ever a babysitter. The family paid me in cash and not through the website.
