I live in the east coast of the US and want to go to Australia, basically. I could save for tickets but, even though it doesn't sound expensive, $1200 is actually a lot to me. Then having to pay for accommodations once I'm there... I'd rather get paid while getting there and picking up a sublet with the money I make (I have some people who can help with that or put me up temporarily). I'm just as happy working my way there and would not be in any sort of rush to get to where I'm going.
Being a flight attendant is an understandably arduous undertaking from an employment from my understanding from a friend (who speaks five languages and has a degree) and they are likely not keen on being extremely part time so that's kind of out. I only mention it because it's probably the go-to in terms of 'free travel.'
Im not sure if cruise ships are similar in how loose or tight they are on being a regular employee. I'm imagining not. I'd be down with housekeeping (I have experience) or some basic healthcare (emt and er tech level [trauma, phlebotomy, ekg, etc]). I'm a pretty decent cook. Also though, I'm generally just a polite, upbeat (performative at least) helpful person who doesn't mind bullshitting to jerks and also am happy to general labor. I don't know if they are interested in hiring people for a round trip though.
Im not sure of what my other options are though. Shipping seems like it might require a skillset I don't have but maybe I'm overthinking it. Are private couriers still a thing? Are there other options?
