I’m 15 years old and I live in North Carolina. I worked at a sandwich franchise place for 5 weeks and worked a total of 43 hours. I loved working there and I put my all into it. I simply love working. The week that I was fired I had fallen into a depressive episode, a few days into that episode my boss called me in and fired me.
The reason she fired me was because I had posted a photo of me in my uniform on Reddit. I was positively promoting the restaurant. I had been working there a month-ish when she fired me. She explained it was because no ONE, even them, could post online photos of themselves at the workplace or in their uniforms online. This was in the employee handbook that she never gave me (they also don’t have formal training. It’s train as you go). She had given it to me 2 days prior (but I was getting off on 9 on school nights so I forgot them).
Another thing, I came into work on lice. I posted it on my Instagram story announcing I had lice because I wanted others to check themselves or be wary of a breakout. I hate lying and I try to do right by others.
I would like to work at a chain grocery store. And I was looking over the application and came across “do you have experience working in customer service or working a cashier?” YES! I do. They also have a prior question asking if you were ever laid off or let go.
I think my experiences can really help me and I do have prior experience in customer service and such. However, I don’t want them to immediately say no if I honestly answer and that cost me the job (because it’s the only place I can work for another 3 months).
Is it worth it?
