Never quit a job before without a 2 week notice but can't handle being understaffed.

Needed to quickly find a job because I needed to move to a different city 2 hours away. Didn't have any money saved up so I took the first job that took me at a Pizza place. The first two weeks were fine since they had a lot of cooks so the workload and prep wasn't too much to handle on most nights. Things changed after 2 people got fired and 1 quit without two weeks notice. I didn't get an increase in hours even though i ask for at least 40 hours a week I was only give 20-25 hours even after those people left. eventually 2 more weeks past and 2-3 more people quit or got fire and we are down to 2 cooks left. me and one other person. he hired only 1 person in the 1 month time frame since everyone left. 3 weeks later. the new person and the only other cook left leaving just me. its been 2 weeks but he's only hired 1 other person. I can't really take it anymore. I found a new job that paying more that I am making now at 7.50( new job is paying me 13/hr). I've never quit on the spot before but being understaffed so long and being paid so little. Is it still fine to quit without a two weeks notice? I have a shift tomorrow and I haven't told anyone but the assistant manager who on the verge of quitting because of it being understaffed too. I don't start my new job until this coming week or the 11 of this month. Do i send a text or call. or just not show up?

I'm not really too worried about using this as job reference in future jobs. I have had other jobs before this where I had a good relationship with my bosses.

Also I should just add. His reason for not hiring more people is because he said there are drivers who can also cook. But I ask the drivers who he mention and said they would refuse to be schedule as a cook and would rather quit and they've let him know that.
