A male manager at my company made really negative comments about the female managers he works with.

I (25F) work in IT as a developer. I am used to people being mildly sexist and use humor as a defense mechanism when it comes up. Today, a few people went to happy hour after work and a manager participated. He asked me who I look up to at work and I mentioned the other developers who are teaching me, all of whom are men. The manager then mentioned that he could tell I was being genuine because I wasn't just kissing the asses of the women in leadership at our company who aren't as competent as the developers who are spending lots of time teaching me. I don't really understand these comments. Was he simply being sexist? This manger seems to have a really negative impression of the female leaders who I do look up to.
