Will having a poor work history disqualify me from getting a decent job?

I’m sort of in a tough position. I’ve held many dead end and crappy jobs (retail, manual labor etc) while I was in high school/college. Most of which were held for short periods of time and didn’t really end on good terms. Not trying to make excuses but I wasn’t really focused back then. When potential employers do their background checks am I going to have trouble when they see my work history?
