It’s been a year since I’ve graduated and I’m working a: a customer service agent at a large company, but my dream is to work within college athletics. During my college career, I was a student worker in the athletic office as well as being a student athlete. I absolutely loved my time and tried to make connections and line up a job in the field, but it’s an incredibly difficult market to break into. It seems most positions want you to have a masters in sports administration.
Side note: in my free time I’ve tried to gain experience by volunteering at major sporting events and connecting with those who put on the events, but again it’s a lot of dead ends and masters requirements!
Is there something else I should be doing to make connections in this area? Or is there an entry level job that could help me get my foot in the door. I really enjoyed the athletic administration part of sports because it’s what makes everything move. Events, games, memories, etc. would not have happened without the people behind the scenes organizing and marketing everything
