So I started my second professional job last November. Prior to that I left my first job last June after being there for a year. Both jobs are data analyst positions where I work with a lot of excel and random databases. A month ago I told my manager at my current job that I plan to leave soon as I don't believe that the position is a good fit for me. Reason being that I am being eaten alive inside with the sheer monotony of my work. For me it feels soulless and doesn't really engage my mind. I do dread coming into work and I have been thinking for the past few weeks what other types of jobs I can go into that don't have me sitting in a cubicle for 8 hours using Excel. Sure the pay is pretty good but after 2 years of the cubicle life, I long for a more hands on sort of job that I would look forward to in some way.
What is out there for me? First I'd like to disclose that I am not interested in heavy trades (such as welding) as I do not like the idea of more physical work. I hold a Bachelors in Mathematics (so no, please do not suggest becoming an Actuary as I tried that route and could not put in the time for the exams, and teaching is also out of the question.).
