A friend of mine worked for his father, in his Insurance agency from 20011 to 2015. Although they were umbrellaed under a parent company (think State Farm, Allstate, American family, etc) his father owned the agency. My friend worked for a check under the table. His mom and dad have both since he died.
For the last few months he has been under contract at a bank as an independent contractor and now that bank wants to bring him on as a full-time employee but want to verify his employment from 2011 to 2015. I told him i’ve seen this problem a lot where the owner of a small business dies and there is no way to verify and that I would look into it.
What would be the best course of action to take here? Would it be best to have the woman who took over the agency verify? Or the regional manager who was best friends with his dad or is there a better course of action to take here? In case it matters we are in Kansas. He is also well aware I am making this post. This new job opportunity is important and one he really can’t lose right now. Thank you for all of the advice and I will be answering all of the comments.
