Is taking a gap year in the Army advisable?

So I’m 17 and on my final year of high school. I’m doing really well and my grades are high enough for me to get into the course I’m interested in, a bachelors degree in Commerce where I’ll major in Economics and Finance. I’ve recently come across a brochure for my country’s (Australia if that matters) National Defence force offering a gap year to high school students. Would this be advisable in terms of career viability? I’ve heard that gap years in the army look really good on the resume, but some say it’s often frowned upon, especially in my area of interest. I am genuinely interested in some of the roles (combat engineer and infantry especially) and these roles are offered in the gap year program but I want to ensure that this won’t impact on any future career paths I might have because I most likely will not stay in the Army. Thanks for any help.
