For a bit of background, I'm an American citizen living in Singapore with Permanent Residence there. I'm about to enter university as an undergraduate, and will likely be studying Law at University College London. Now, I'm planning to renounce my Singapore Permanent Resident status for a number of reasons (avoiding the two year mandatory national service, gripes with the nation, a few personal reasons), but I still need to consider my employment plans after university before I fully commit to a decision, as renouncing it would mean that working in Singapore is out of the question.
Ideally, I would like to stay on and work in the UK after university, but I fully understand that finding a job that would allow me to get a work visa could be very difficult. As a backup plan, I was considering heading back to the US and searching for a job there. The problem with this is that I haven't lived in the US for a bit over a decade, and while I do have some family there, we are not very close.
I wanted to ask if anyone might know how good, if at all, my job prospects would be in the US with a UK law degree? Obviously, I don't expect to be able to work as a lawyer in the US, but I think I would be agreeable to any job that could give me a foothold there. Would also there be any resources I might want check up on?
