So I’m having issues at my current job which I’ve had for almost two years. Don’t get me wrong I love my job and I enjoy my work. Not something I thought I would ever saw, but well management changed last July...
I worked as a temp before getting hired on with the company. I work after hours, which I don’t mind because I have insomnia.
I was promised once the new people hired on with me where trained (they didn’t start as temps) I would get off the weekends, but my boss at the time got let go without any reason. They literally screwed my department over by letting her go. We also lost our most qualified person after they let her go.
After hours does everything from claims issues, to dealing with customers, to tracking loads, and so much more. During the days they have specialized people for the issues we do during the nights and it usually takes a minimum of 6 months to get a person to where they should be. After hours has a steep learning curb.
I worked my ass off to get hired in. At one point I worked everyday of the week except Wednesday to cover slots after one of the people quit.
But here is the issue, I’m miserable in my current situation and my boss literally doesn’t care about after hours. We are still on the “training” schedule my previous boss made before she left. Instead of actually managing us our boss decided to bestow lead to one of my coworkers who hadn’t even been at my work for six months... which caused a lot of friction between everyone because our lead is an asshole and is in an entirely different business unit. He also has favorites.
An example of this is what happened around Christmas time. I had asked for Christmas off 4 months before it even happened. I was told there wouldn’t be any issues.
Four weekend before Christmas I was told that they could no longer cover Christmas and I would have to work.
I then found out that one of my coworkers was getting Christmas off... I was livid.
I even talked to my boss and he literally did nothing.
It gets worse...
I am still on weekends even know I was promised off weekends once everyone was trained. I have brought this up several times about the schedule needing to be overhauled but I was advised that it was at our leads discretion.
I’m also cover a BU I am not supposed to because they won’t schedule the two people we have for that BU correctly. We usually have one person in at a time for this BU and they get paid more for this BU. It is not our job to cover this BU.
So instead of fixing the schedule they hired a temp to help fix the “gaps” when they could schedule people right and not need a temp. My coworkers and I have all made mock schedules, so I know there are several solutions.
Also we are allowed to work from home but my current boss is very controlling when it comes to working from home when I know other departments aren’t.
For Example, so I work Saturday/Sunday 1030 am - 2100 and Monday/Tuesday 1700 - 0330.
So my sister was sick one week and my stepmom had to leave for work for the weekend and my dad was working overnight. My sister is 13 btw. She had also had a high fever on and off so my parents asked if she could come stay with. So I called and asked my boss if I could work from him on Saturday only. He agreed and told me I needed to tell my lead and coworker. So I sent them a group txt and my lead flipped out. He told me that I shouldn’t be working from home because it wasn’t my issue... and just went on and on. The issue was that he had done this is front of my coworker on our group chat.
Just an FYI, our workers can bring their kids in on the weekends as long as they are quiet. Being thirteen this wouldn’t have been an issue for my sister. I stayed at home because we weren’t for sure if she had the flu or a stomach bug.
Normally a situation like this wouldn’t be an issue but my lead flipped out.
These are just a few of the issues I’ve been dealing with.
At this point I don’t know how to see about approaching my current manager about these issues without coming across as entitled, but I am also so done with everything.
I would have to find a new job that pays just as much as the job I have now or more.
