Are temp agencies a good resource to find summer jobs in between college?

My spring semester is about to come to an end and I've been applying for summer positions since February. However, despite getting many interviews, I've had no luck beyond that and have not landed a position on anything on-campus or off-campus. I'm at my last resort and want to try new methods. I have never used temp-agencies before to find work, but am considering since nothing else has worked.
