Answering the Selection Criteria in a Cover Letter

I am currently answering the selection for a job posting. The ad is asking for me to answer all the selection criteria in my cover letter. I have always known the rule for a cover letter to be max one page, however, answering all the selection criteria will easily take up more than one page. Does anyone know if it's alright if a cover letter is more than one page if you're also answering the selection criteria?
