I’m wondering if anyone has any insight into my current situation.
I applied for a job and flew through the phone interview process (actually had the interviewer tell me she was going to HIGHLY recommend me). Finally got to the in person interview and I think it went amazing. The manager and I really bonded over shared experiences. I felt that I gave examples of being the exact type of candidate they want, I went out of the interview feeling really great. Towards the end I asked what the next steps were and he let me know that they had interviewed 3 other people all still in college and I was the final interview. This position is an entry level training position but I’m a year post graduation with a job in the same career field currently and looking to change paths in that career area. He let me know that it was great I already had some experience in the area as well. He said I would get an offer letter or a request for a second interview if I got it by the middle of the next week at the latest.
Well, the week came and went. I sent a friendly follow-up on Friday asking if there were any updates on the position. The recruiter responded to me saying that “the process is taking a bit longer than we expected” and I should know something in a few weeks. They also said they’d keep me posted.
Any thoughts on what might be going on here? I have some of my own ideas but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through this before.
