Hi all. I’m stressing out over quitting a part-time retail job. Pathetic, I know. Anyways, I have 2 jobs at the moment and due to personal reasons, I am going to have to give one up. The problem is that I just got promoted about a week and a half ago and I feel extremely bad about quitting — especially because we’re low on staff. Not only that, but I am also going to be out of town for a week and a half (which I R/O) and then will only be available to work one day after I come back before my “2 weeks” time period is up (hopefully that makes sense). How do I go about this? I’ve given 2 weeks notice to other part time jobs before by just straight up telling the manager that I was putting my 2 weeks in, but I’m not sure how to explain my situation to my current one... “Hi I’m really sorry about this, but I’d like to put in my 2 weeks. I know I just got promoted, but due to personal reasons, I will be unable to work here anymore. I’m also going to be out of town for the majority of my last 2 weeks here, so I understand if you’d like to just make Saturday (the last day I’m scheduled before my trip) my last day.” Would saying something along those lines be okay? Genuinely don’t know why I’m overthinking this. That’s anxiety for ya I guess.
