Recently I got a new boss and I really wanted to make a good first impression. At first, I was doing a good job at it too. Then the perfect storm of a situation hit and I fell for an email boss scam. I was completely transparent with my work place, gave them an update after things were (thankfully) resolved, and provided some insights on how to prevent this from happening to some of our older patrons/board members.
My coworkers/supervisors and the new boss seemed extremely sympathetic of the situation. They even helped guide me in the right direction to get it fixed. However, I just feel like I made a horrible first impression and look stupid. I've done a great job at this workplace in the years I've worked for them, but now I worry that my reputation has been tainted.
I prefer not to go into specifics about the amount of money or nature of the scam. However, it didn't cost the company anything. It only hurt my personal finances.
