Under Posted Job -Want a Test Pilot/Flight Instructor/Systems Test Engineer under the title of “Flight Technician”

In looking at job postings, sometimes you find job specifications at odds with the real world. In this case the job title was flight test technician, pay $45-65k:yr in the heart of Silicon Valley. In looking at the job description, they want the “technician” to not only take data and analyze it. They want a proficient, Faa licensed drone pilot and flight instructor who is to develop a testing program for the new product.

On further thought, this is another example of a job posting of a founding company member looking to replace himself .

Flight instructors are typically $45-65/hr. Test engineers about $150k/yr and more. What do test pilots make? $150k/yr as well?

All this in an innocuous ad looking for a flight “technician” for around $50k/yr.

If you ever go into an interview for an under-posted position such as this, also be aware of possible brain picking where they feign the job just to get free advice under the guise of an interview question.
